About Moti Magri / Pratap Memorial
Moti Magri, 'Pearl Hill', overlooks Fateh Sagar Lake, and its summit carries a bronze statue of Maharana Pratap on his horse Chetak. Pratap was the ruler of Mewar who refused to submit to the Mughal emperor Akbar and fought his army at Haldighati in 1576.
The memorial, the Maharana Pratap Smarak, was created in the twentieth century with public support under Maharana Bhagwat Singh. Paths wind up through gardens to the statue, past a small hall with portraits and stories of Mewar's heroes, and the top gives wide views over the lake and the city.
