Your guide starts with Jaisalmer Fort — the second-oldest fort in Rajasthan, and still lived in — then leads you through the old town's ornate havelis, the peaceful ghats of Gadisar Lake and the royal cenotaphs. As evening approaches, head out into the Thar Desert for a camel safari, a cultural show and dinner under the stars.

Heading to Jodhpur

Say goodbye to the Golden City and take the road east to Jodhpur. The afternoon and evening are yours at your own pace — or, if you're up for more, we can arrange a discovery walk through the old-town markets.

Mehrangarh Fort's towering gates rise 400 feet above the city — the day's headline. From there, the refined Mandore Gardens, then, as the heat fades, the restored Toorji ka Jhalra stepwell, the Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum and a browse through the Clock Tower Market.

A morning visit to Jaswant Thada, the tranquil white-marble memorial below the fort, before a scenic drive south — watching the landscape shift from dry plains to the rolling Aravalli hills as you arrive in the City of Lakes. The evening is yours.

The hilltop City Palace, Jagdish Temple and the Saheliyon ki Bari (Garden of the Maidens) fill the morning. After a traditional Rajasthani lunch, unwind on a boat ride across Lake Pichola, with Gangaur Ghat and the floating Jag Mandir along the way.

What's the best time of year for this route?
- October through March brings pleasant daytime temperatures across the desert and lake cities alike. April to September gets genuinely hot, especially in Jaisalmer and Jodhpur.
Can Bikaner, Ajmer, Ranthambore or the Golden Triangle be added?
- Yes — both sit naturally along this circuit. Bikaner fits between Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, Ajmer is an easy detour near Jaipur, and Ranthambore adds a tiger safari from Jaipur.
