About Ahar Cenotaphs
Ahar, on the eastern edge of Udaipur, is the royal cremation ground of Mewar. More than 250 cenotaphs of the Maharanas and their families stand here in white marble, their domed chhatris crowded together on terraces.
Ahar was also the site of an ancient settlement, long before Udaipur was founded, and the small archaeological museum beside the cenotaphs displays finds from its excavations.
