About Nahargarh Fort

Sawai Jai Singh II built Nahargarh in 1734 on the Aravalli ridge above his new city, as a retreat and part of its defences. Its walls once ran along the ridge to Jaigarh Fort.

Inside, the Madhavendra Bhawan, added in the 1880s by Sawai Madho Singh II, contains nine identical suites for his queens, joined by corridors to the king's own rooms. The fort's terraces give the widest view over Jaipur's rooftops.
