About Govind Dev Ji Temple
Govind Dev Ji is Jaipur's most important Krishna temple. Its image of Krishna was brought from Vrindavan in the early 18th century and installed by Sawai Jai Singh II in the gardens behind the City Palace, placed so the Maharaja could see the deity from his own rooms in the Chandra Mahal.
The temple is in daily worship. Visit at one of the darshan times, when the curtain is drawn back and the hall fills with devotees singing; the early-morning mangla aarti is the most atmospheric.
