Birla Mandir (Laxmi Narayan Temple)
A luminous white-marble temple dedicated to Lakshmi and Narayan, particularly atmospheric when illuminated after sunset.
About Birla Mandir (Laxmi Narayan Temple)
Birla Mandir, properly the Laxmi Narayan Temple, was built by the Birla family of industrialists and consecrated in 1988. It's made of white marble and stands at the foot of Moti Dungri hill.
Its carvings are unusual: alongside Hindu deities, the outer walls show figures from other traditions and philosophies, among them Socrates, Zoroaster, Christ and the Buddha. It's at its best after dark, when the marble is floodlit.
