About Lotus Temple (Bahá'í House of Worship)
The Lotus Temple is a Bahá'í House of Worship that opened in 1986. Its 27 free-standing petals of white marble, grouped in threes to form nine sides, rise from nine surrounding pools, so the building seems to float like a half-open flower.
Inside there are no images, sermons or rituals. People of any faith, or none, sit in silence in the central hall, which seats around 2,500.
