About Tilon Ki Pol
Tilon Ki Pol is the ornate sandstone gateway on the path down to Gadisar Lake. Tradition credits it to Tilon, a wealthy courtesan of Jaisalmer.
The story goes that the Maharawal refused to pass under a gate built by a courtesan and meant to have it pulled down, so Tilon placed a shrine to Krishna on top, making it a sacred gate that couldn't be demolished. Its carved arches frame the lake beyond, and it's especially photogenic at sunrise.
