About Salim Singh Ki Haveli
Salim Singh ki Haveli was built around 1815 for Salim Singh, Jaisalmer's powerful prime minister, on the remains of an older house. Its upper floors flare out over the street, and the top storey is ringed by 38 balconies beneath a roof shaped like a peacock.
Salim Singh was feared in his day, and stories of his ambition, including the extra storeys he's said to have planned so his house would rival the ruler's palace, are part of any visit.
