About Ranthambore Safari — Zones 1-5
Zones 1 to 5 make up the core of Ranthambore National Park: the country around the old fort and the three lakes, Padam Talao, Rajbagh Talao and Malik Talao, where many of the reserve's best-known tiger photographs were taken. Dry forest, grassland and ravines surround the ruined pavilions of what was once the Jaipur rulers' hunting ground.
Safaris run twice a day in six-seat open jeeps, called gypsies, or larger shared canters. As well as tigers, look out for leopards, sloth bears, sambar and spotted deer, marsh crocodiles and a long list of birds.

Can I choose my zone?
- Zones are allotted through the forest department's booking system, subject to availability. Booking early gives you the best chance of a core zone.
Jeep or canter?
- A gypsy carries six people and is quieter and more nimble; a canter carries about twenty and costs less. If you can, choose a gypsy.
What is the Ranthambore Safari — Zones 1-5 entry fee?
- ₹4,500 foreign nationals, ₹2,000 Indian citizens. Tickets for the sites on your route can be included in your trip estimate.
