About Khas Mahal
The Khas Mahal was Shah Jahan's private palace in Agra Fort, built of white marble in the 1630s when he remodelled the fort's riverfront. Its central hall, once painted and gilded, opens onto the Yamuna, with a view downriver to the Taj Mahal.
It's flanked by two pavilions with curved, gilded bangla roofs, traditionally said to have been the apartments of his daughters Jahanara and Roshanara, and faces the Anguri Bagh, a formal garden of geometric beds.
